In a blow to Narendra Modi's campaign to be re-elected Chief Minister for the third time in Gujarat. A former IPS officer and ATS chief joined the Congress. Strongly criticising Modi, Rajan Priyadarshi, a 1980 batch IPS officer claims that the Chief Minister instigated the 2002 Gujarat riots. And also says the Chief Minister had always been behind the clashes on the eve of the Jagannath Yatra in the state. Rajan Priyadarshi was posted as IGP in Rajkot in 2002.
