Indians take democratic rights for granted as they get them easily: Suu Kyi II India Special News



Nobel laureate and Mayanmar's pro-democracy
leader Aung San Suu Kyi was at her alma mater
Lady Shri Ram College for Women on Friday. It
is day four of her visit to India. Suu Kyi studied
Political Science at the college in the 60s.
Addressing college students, an emotional Suu
Kyi said that she had never felt far away from
India.
She also said that Indians took democracy for
granted as they got it easily. "You (Indians) are
taking your democratic rights for granted. It's
when you don't have it you realise how much
value it has," Suu Kyi said.
