Big blow to the Karnataka Government over
appointment of Upa Lokayukta. The Supreme
Court today upheld the Karnataka High court
order quashing the appointment retd justice
Chandrashekarraiah as Lokaykta. The apex court
upheld the high court's order on holding that no
meaningful consultation had taken place with
Karnataka High Court Chief Justice as per the
required norms. Justice Chandrashekharraih
was appointed as the Upa Lokayukta without
him being recommended by the Chief Justice.
The division bench them quashed the
appointment citing faulty consultative process
adopted by the Chief Minister.
