India Maharashtra: Curfew continues in Dhule after clashes

Curfew continued in the Dhule town of
Maharashtra two days after a clash between
two communities. Four people died and 106
policemen were injured after communal
clashes. Rapid Action Force was brought in to
control the mobs which pelted stones at the
police.
Over 130 civilians have also been injred in the
clashes which were allegedly triggered by the
non-payment of a bill at a hotel. The cause of
the clash was reportedly a tiff over non-
payment of a hotel bill by a group of four
people, a senior state official told PTI. After
they were beaten up by the hotel staff for
failing to pay the bill, they went away and
returned with a large group after which the
violence escalated, the official said.
