90-year-old E K Narayanan Nambiar was forced to part ways with his first wife Sarada, in 1946 during the British rule. The two separated at an early age after a failed coup against the local feudal landlord led to Nambiar's arrest and jail. Both had lost hope of ever reuniting and ended up marrying different people in the course of their lives. They existed only as the characters in a historic-novel written by Nambiar’s niece Santha.
