Congress vice president Rahul
Gandhi said on Sunday that the
Uttar Pradesh government must do
everything to mediate between the
two communities and ensure
communal harmony was restored in
the riot-hit districts. Rahul who
undertook the surprise "Bhaichara
visit" to Muzaffarnagar, said, "The
condition of relief camps is very bad.
Children are dying there. Every
person I met, regardless of their
community, said they wanted
communal harmony. There is a need
for the state to appoint a mediator
in order to bring the situation.
