Orissa which had earned the
notoriety of being a poachers' village
transformed into a bird-lovers'
village due to the efforts taken by a
wildlife conservation organization --
Wild Orissa. Most of the people
living in the village used to hunt
down thousands of wild fowl for
their meat and eggs. After they were
educated about the tourist potential
that the marshes had and about how
their acts were ruining the eco-
system, the villagers took an oath
never to kill a bird again. (Audio in
