Kollywood is on a day long strike
and fast today, demanding the
rehabilitation of Tamils displaced in
Sri Lanka. Artistes, directors,
producers, distributors and
exhibitors are all set to undertake
the 'hunger-strike' at the South
Indian Film Artists' Association
premises in Chennai to espouse the
cause of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
Leading artistes and prominent
personalities of the film world are
expected to participate in the
agitation. Personalities of the Tamil
celluloid world are the latest to
stage a protest over the issue,
which has generated heat in the
state in recent weeks. Students
have been agitating for a longtime
now and have been taking to the
streets demanding among other
things an independent probe into
alleged war crimes by Lankan army.
