It's Karwa Chauth today, technically the 4th day
of the moon's cycle after Dussehra. On the
occasion married women across northern India
keep a day-long fast for the well-being of
their husbands. Commercially, Karwa Chauth
has also come to mark huge market spends on
make-up, clothes and mehndi. Elaborate
preparations have been seen in market areas
over the past several days. Beauty parlours
are heavily booked and those associated with
the beauty business are in high demand. Beauty
treatment packages and schemes abound.
