Talks between Karnataka Chief Minister
Jagadish Shettar and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister
Jayalalithaa on the sharing of the Cauvery
river water between the two states failed
soon after they started today. Karnataka has
flatly refused to release any water to Tamil
Nadu, said TN Chief Minister Jayalalithaa after
meeting her counterpart Jagadish Shettar. The
two Chief Ministers met in Bangalore today to
see if they could resolve the tussle over the
Cauvery issue. The meeting was being held
heeding the Supreme Court advice amid
indications that a breakthrough is unlikely.
