A war of words has broken out between one of
India's greatest playwrights, Girish Karnad, and
vocal supporters of the man who is often
described as a lion of English writing, VS
Naipaul. This after Girish Karnad spoke at the
Mumbai literature festival and lambasted Mr
Naipaul who received a lifetime achievement
for his antipathy towards the Indian Muslim -
a verbal critique which has touched on many
raw nerves.
