Cauvery water row: Tamil Nadu files contempt plea against Karnataka - India News

The sharing of Cauvery river water between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu is headed for another flashpoint. The Tamil Nadu government filed a contempt petition in the Supreme Court against Karnataka for stopping the supply of Cauvery river waters. Apart from the Karnataka Chief Minister the Tamil Nadu government's petition asks for contempt proceedings to be initiated against the Water Resources Minister, Chief Secretary and three others. Political temperatures across the borders shot up after Karnataka stopped the flow of water into Tamil Nadu despite the Supreme Court's orders.
