The Election Commission will take a final call on
Tuesday on the government's reply to its notice
on the direct cash transfer scheme announced
by it just before the Gujarat polls. In its reply
to the commission, the Government has
justified the announcement of its direct cash
transfer scheme saying it does not constitute
violation of the model code of conduct and does
not contain anything new that was not in this
year's Budget.
