These days sunless is probably best known for its lineup of connected audio and home theater products like the Sonos one the play 5 or the new beam but today the company is introducing a totally different type of product meant for a very specific kind of listener the person who wants to have multi-room audio across their entire house no matter what so no it's likes to call this architectural audio having speakers woven into the fabric of your home whether they're in the walls or the ceiling and the new Sonos amp can serve as a nerve center for that setup the variety of setups at the Sonos amp supports is vast that at a high level you can hook up 4 speakers to it whatever kind of brand you want at that point they'll become part of a Sonos platform in your house which means that you can stream music or other audio to it from dozens of different services and you can play that audio in different rooms with other Sonos speakers on your Wi-Fi network it also has a line in 4 CD players turntables or any other audio devices you want to hook up and once you've done that you can send that music wirelessly throughout your house to other so no speakers as well and like all other Sonos products you can group multiple amps together which means you can have the same song playing on many speakers throughout your entire house or you can have different rooms playing different songs the older existing Sonos connect amp essentially does the same thing but the new one is about twice as powerful which means you can hook up much larger and more power hungry speakers and it'll still sound excellent [Music] here in Boston Sonos gave us a demo of just how good the amp sounds here tucked up the - very nice speakers I believe they're about five thousand dollars the pair and we got to hear music streaming through them and as you might expect it really does sound excellent at any volume it can get incredibly loud but things are still super clear and crisp the old amp was also just not designed the TV in mind whereas the new model features HDMI arc which means you can get your TV sound to any speakers hooked up to the Sonos amp with no problems whatsoever and if you're using this for home theater sound you can get a four point one setup by hooking up two front speakers two back speakers and then the wireless so no subwoofer and there's software optimization onboard which essentially simulates a center channel so your dialogue comes through very clear and if you have other sono speakers you can use those wirelessly as rear surround sound speakers as well this unless amp has some of the same visual language as of other recent products for example the front you'll see three touch sensitive buttons for play pause volume up bowing down and you can swipe forward or back to change tracks otherwise it's a pretty plain unremarkable product it's meant to be sort of hidden away in your media closet or slid into a rack while the front is very very simple or on the back there's a whole host of ports there's support for four speakers input for your turntable there's Ethernet there's two Ethernet ports actually and the HDMI and power cables you can really hook a lot into this one box to go along with the launch of the new amp so notice is actually opening up its API platform for developers to build any sort of applications they want since this product is meant to go inside a home where there's gonna be lots of custom audio installations you'll want to make it easy for developers to build apps to control it so that means that for the first time anybody can get out there and build apps using things like their play and resume settings some volume limiting you can send audio queues or notifications to your speakers soon there's a whole host of things that will increase the functionality of sonu speakers not just the amp well the average consumer can buy a sono same and build their own set up at home the product is really designed with professional installers in mind you can have people come into your house and just trick the whole place out with as much sound as you want and the Sonos sample will be part of that it's designed to fit into a rack system with any other home theater in-home audio components you might want to have there that's just scratching the surface of what the amp can do the product doesn't launch until December but when it does I'll definitely keep my eyes had to see what kind of crazy setups dedicated home audio enthusiasts and professional installers will start building.
