The Supreme Court has rejected
pleas seeking reducing the juvenile
age from the current 18 years.
Minors aged below 18 even if
involved in henious crimes like
rape, murder and robbery will be
tried under the provisions of
Juvenile Justice Board.
Bench headed by Chief Justice
Altamas Kabir said that interference
in the Juvenile Justice Act is not
necessary The plea in the apex
court was opposed by various child
activists, including former
chairman of Delhi Commission for
Protection of Child Rights Amod
Kanth.
