KB Ganesh Kumar, a minister in the
Congress-led UDF government in
Kerala, has resigned following
allegations of domestic violence by
wife. Kumar put in his papers after
a meeting with Chief Minister
Oommen Chandy. Sources say the
resignation came after his wife
Yamini Thankachy filed a police
complaint against him late on
Monday evening. Before that,
Thankachy, a doctor by profession,
had held a press conference
alleging that her husband had
physically abused and tortured her
for the last 14 years. Her outburst
came hours after KB Ganesh Kumar
filed a divorce petition in the
family court here accusing her of
'blackmailing and manhandling'
him. The wife alleges that very
recently, the minister had held her
by the hair and abused her. The
duo have been married for 18
years now and have 2 sons. While
the wife alleges an illicit affair on
the part of the actor-turned politician and the minister on his part says it is all a part of a political conspiracy. (Kerala Controversy News)
