The divide in the DMK following its
pullout from the UPA govt has
taken a serious turn as now former
Union minister MK Alagiri has
today given the party's two-day
crucial meet a skip. On Sunday,
Alagiri met his father and party
chief M Karunanidhi and conveyed
his strong opposition to the
"manner" in which the DMK had
withdrawn its ministers from the
Centre. When asked about his
absence at the Chennai meet,
Alagiri played evasive and
questioned whether there was a
compulsion that all members must
attend. Alagiri is upset with
younger brother MK Stalin,
Karunanidhi's political heir, for
reportedly pushing their father to
withdraw support from the UPA.
