India's Hottest Discussion & Debate || Rahul Gandhi's 'No' to marriage

Speak Out India is a NewsX special
show which debates the main news
event of the day. Congress vice-
president Rahul Gandhi not only
denies aspirations for becoming
Prime Minister, but has also ruled
out marriage. Arguably India's
most eligible bachelor, Rahul said
that he did not wish to start a
family as doing so would lead him
to develop a vested interest in the
status quo at the expense of his
mission to democratize the
Congress and decentralize its
decision making. Rahul Gandhi said
and I quote ""If I get married and
have children, then I will become a
status quoist and will be concerned
about bequeathing my position to
my children." The question we are
asking tonight is, Is marriage a
distraction in politics? Is Rahul's
decision a bid to do away with
dynastic politics? Has Rahul broken
many hearts by saying 'No' to
marriage? We debate this on the
show and try to evolve consensus
among our panelists over the issue.
