The US draft resolution against Sri
Lanka has put India in a bind. This
would mean India interfering in Sri
Lanka's internal affairs. The
resolution has demanded credible
international investigation into
alleged violations of human rights
laws. It has also asked "unfettered
access to special Rapporteurs".
India has been trying to work with
the US to water down the
resolution, one that would be
acceptable to both Sri Lanka and
India. A change in the draft may
take place before the resolution is
put to vote on March 21.
