After months of signs of friction between the BJP and JD(U) in Bihar... finally a clearing of the air. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has put a brake to the speculation announcing that the JDU and BJP WOULD contest united in the 2014 general election. The relationship between the two parties nosedived with state BJP chief C P Thakur and JD(U) spokesperson Shivanand Tiwary issuing incendiary statements of going it alone in the elections on all Bihar seats. Political observers say the clarification is the result of the realization that the BJP and JD(U) they need to back each other fully to ward off the opposition's attempts to destabilize their seven-year-old coalition government.
