Hurricane Sandy has been perceived, at least to
some extent, as a climate change-related
catastrophe. Scientists say the super storm
had many effects of global warming... though
they say the real uniqueness was collision of
Sandy with another storm system. Scientists
agree that global warming has added more
moisture to the atmosphere... resulting in more
precipitation. Also, global warming is
responsible for raising the sea level which
means a hurricane like Sandy can penetrate
further inland. Third, a warmer temperature of
the sea caused by climate allowed the storm to
be stronger for longer than it might have been
otherwise. And fourthly, the sheer size of the
storm may have been propped up by the global
warming phenomenon.
