India gears up for Dussehra and Diwali. The
festive season keeps markets buzzing with
hectic shopping activity and it's also the
biggest time to buy sweets. With a major
increase in demand of sweets in the city, there
is also a glut of adulterated ingredients that go
into their making. Health officials seized a
quintal of spurious milk food called khoya from
the cold storage of a sweet shop in Ferozepur
district on Saturday ahead of Dussehra and
Diwali. This is not an isolated and one off
incident. Here's a report on how we live in
constant peril of being sold spurious,
adulterated sweets that could harm us in a big
way.
