The buzz in Copenhagen is that there is going to be no deal, this comes from everywhere including the African nations and the island states. There is a possibility of a political statement coming out on this deal soon. But the collapse of the deal is eminent. What we are hearing now is that there are some groups that is going to take radical action about the failure of the deal, but my personal belief is that any kind of radical action creates a wrong kind of atmosphere and sends out a wrong message. The position of Oxfam is that nothing is ever achieved by radical actions. It is unfortunate that this is whats happening. The United state is redesigning the treaty for all the countries, but it is not going to happen in Copenhagen, my feeling is that we have to gear for July. Now we have to pave a way for the treaty to happen in Mexico, 9 months down the line in July.

If this economic climate of developed nation continues, the chances of 100 million dollars that was the demand of G77 for adaptation and other 100 dollars for mitigation these amounts are unrealistic, What is going to be made available, is a fraction of this amount. The polcitial statement what the amount is uncertain. Today is the holding pattern for the entire conference


World leaders of 130 countries will start coming in from Tuesday. These leaders will stay in till 18. The tragedy is that my feeling is if now then when, we had 2 years to prepare for it, the first big civil society movement against the climate change. The world has never been so prepared for the deal, it is nothing sort than a tragedy. It was something that was signaled by the developed countries even before Copenhagen and now what the political statement is for.

There was a large crowd outside the Bella estate, as today is the last day when people can get in with their old registration passes. This is to make way for the leaders of the 130 states.
